Pumps' Perplexities

Here in Jabunyaville, foliage has come and gone, the leaves
are falling and the WAR has begun......

Which tree has produced the most leaves that have fallen
on other people's property?....Who will claim which leaves
for proper disposal?....Who will, while not being
observed, try to blow leaves to an other's property?.....
Great questions all....Or should it be " great questions
Fall"?......

For some reason I have determined that most of the
leaves go away by themselves.....A little snow or some
rain and "off they go"......But there are some that say,
"the leaves are bad" or "they damage my nice lawn"...
And so the WAR begins......

What really gets me is that the "wind" will suddenly
change the purpose of "man"......It seems that "Mother
Nature" has the biggest "blower of all......Pumps

Well, my avid readers, my working days have once
again come to a conclusion.....Fourteen days of
NON fun and frolic......

It has been said that, "You can't go home again",
and I guess it is true......Life is a series of events
or "periods" that you pass through.....Trying to
reclaim the joy or passion of one of these
"periods" is impossible.....Too many things
change during the passing years......

In my case, while the mind was eager the
muscles were not.....And as always in life,
another lesson is learned......That being do
not try it again, "idiot"......Stay home and
enjoy your retirement.....For it also has its
benefits.......Pumps

The way society is going these days, it will be difficult
to keep warm during the winter......

The latest news is that San Francisco wants to ban
indoor fireplace of wood, due to pollution.......

There are people who do not want you to burn coal......
There are people who do not want you to use oil or
propane, a oil by-product.......

SO THE ONLY THING THAT IS LEFT TO HEAT YOU
IS THE SUN......

A question for the "great minds", how do you keep
warm on a cloudy day or during the night?.......

(Remember a solar panel requires an electric pump
to run it.)

Today the housing market is in crisis because the wrong
people were allowed to borrow money......

Having been raised in New York City, it was easy to
borrow money from anyone one......All you were
required to do is pay back the loan.......If you did not,
you may wind up in a hospital with a broken leg or
two......Things were very simple "back then"......

Today......Borrow.......Do not repay.......And all of a
sudden someone is supposed to feel sorry for your
financial plight........

Years ago, you thought twice or maybe three times
before you borrowed money, you could not repay,
from "Benny The Bat" or "Sam The Shylock"...Pumps

The movie goers of today are different than past years......
Gone are the "family days" of movie going, along with
the "adult" block busters........

Hollywood is complaining that it is not making money
at the theater anymore......"Ticket sales are down and
they are losing money"........

The answer is simple.......Movies are for children,
teenagers, and young adults on a date........A mom or
pop, divorced or not, will take their offspring to a "G"
rated film, but that is it.......Serious, mind gripping,
thought movies play only to small audiences in little
"art house" theaters......

While the "4 star" movie fails, the "1-1/2 star" action
or "blood" movie is the weekend "hit"........I am not
saying that there is not a occasional "block buster"
released, but in general, movies have been relegated
to a "weekend date" with a member of the opposite
sex........Pumps

A nice little low budget movie along with some talent
has made David Beckham a millionaire along with
the woman he has married, one of the "Spice Girls".....

I really have no interest in them or their personal
lives, except.......

Beckham has come to the United States and has did
little "work" in the game of soccer/football to earn his
money......."Posh" Spice seems to spend most of it,
anyway......He has played poorly upon his return
to England playing on their National Team......Now
the guy is in Australia and upon "packing a stadium"
to see him play, he goes off the field in 5 minutes
because his ankle did not "hold up"........

David Beckham is MILKING every sports promoter and
fan for all that they are worth......His name WILL draw a
crowd.and the they will pay money to see him play......
But Beckham has become nothing more than a
"woosie gladiator" and is cheating his fans.....Pumps

Reported today from Zurich, Switzerland, on the "net"
is the story of a PHD at a Zurich center of learning,
saying that Global Warming will effect the Earth's
rotation.......In the solar system.......Yep........

While Dr. Van Ulderwert, says that this will not effect
our clocks, and method of keeping time, it will "affect
societies that rely on predicted, exact sunrise and sunset
times in ceremonial and religious activities."

I guess that this is really bad news for the Druids....Pumps

To my many readers, please be advised that foliage has
finally arrived in Jabunyaville......

The trees along the river banks were in their reds,
oranges and yellows......I have to say the same for
the few trees which are out my front door.....

Looks like this weekend, if sunny, may be the day for
a drive outside my normal routes.......

I do enjoy fall foliage..........Pumps

I am just getting sick and tired of these "talking heads"
which just get paid to "talk"......I wish I could get a
"soft job" and get highly paid for expounding on my
"educated guesses"......

Nobody really knows anything.......

One goes through their whole lives "hoping" that they
made the right decision, on one problem or another......
No one is a soothsayer which can predict with 100%
accuracy the outcome of any event or situation......
All one can do is "guess".......

I suspect we should use the word "guesser", "pundit"
and even "talking head" to mean the same.......But, again
I wish I did have their financial income......Pumps

Like every other commodity in the world, the price of
beer is going up......The cheap stuff ain't cheap anymore...

It seems that it has to do with growing hops and the
wheat crop being used for ethanol (automobile
pollution, Global Warming and all that crap).....Also
the price of the aluminum can is going up......Let's
face it the can has always cost more than its
contents.....

What gets me is that, today, I can buy two 12 packs
cheaper than buying one case of 24 cans......Go figure.....
My brand is selling 12 cans for $4.99 USD and a
case of 24 for $10.99 USD......Must want to get rid of
some olde stock, I suspect.......Pumps

Well, the Internet has noted that Mr. Al Gore has a good
chance of becoming the "Man of the Year" for the year
2007 by the publication, "Time" magazine.......

It is suspected that since he accepted an Academy Award,
for a documentary film and has won a Nobel Prize for
bringing peace to the world that he is deserving of the
"Man of the Year" title.......

If anything the "title" will mean that he will not make
any attempt to become President of the United States.....
To do so would be a reduction in his earning power and
accrued wealth........There is only one problem, though.....

Does anyone remember last year's "Man of the Year"?....

Today I drove to my local Chinese Take Out (or Take
Away), and bought food for dinner......

Along side drove up a vehicle with a bicycle carrier
on the roof......Attached to this carrier was a bicycle
with only ONE wheel.......Where was the second
wheel or tire?.......It was in the back seat of the
vehicle........

When I was growing up you had an olde used bike......
No one wanted to steal it......But today I guess when
you can afford a $300 bike, the manufacturer must
make it easy for the front wheel to be removed.....

Back in the olde days, it took you a good 1/2 hour
to get the rusted nuts "broken" in order to remove
the front wheel......Today for $300 you get "speed
nuts".......Pumps

Well this is the week that the NBC TV network is talking
about climate change and other thing that can be done to
"save the Earth".......One of those other things is to
recycle, aluminum cans, bottles and newspapers.......

It is ironic that this week the local county government, of
which Jabunyaville is a part, has announced that it will
no longer be expanding its recycling program by accepting
new customers and will in fact be cutting back on its
services in some established areas.......

Apparently due to lose of tax revenue, perhaps from the
housing crisis, they are cutting back on their curbside
recycling program.......It appears that it was the easiest
service to cut without effecting other county services........

So much for "saving the Earth"..........Pumps

Since I am once again, although temporarily, dabbling in
the "work place", I have come to a conclusion regarding
what a good mechanic or technician is.....

Unfortunately to know if you have "found' a good
mechanic is tough......Number one you have to find a
honest person who will tell you the truth.....And
second you have to find out if this person will lose
a few hours of a night's sleep in order to worry about
a problem repair, whether it be yours or not......

If someone will worry about "your repair" when they
are off the job, then you have found a gem of a person.....
If they have no desire to solve a problem at night, then
for sure, they will not have a desire to solve a problem
during their working hours......Pumps
