Mbps
"Million bits per second".....Every Internet Provider (IP) has
advertisements as to how FAST their service works.....And the
speed is measured in Mbps......The more Mbps, the faster your
computer will 'download and upload' information.....WRONG....
These companies only mention the Mbps that are AVAILABLE
for your use........
If you ask your IP for actual speed, as I have on many an
occasion, they will only test to see if you are properly connected.....
They can not confirm your speed.......As many have found out
you can 'test' your speed and in 'no way' does it come anywhere
near the advertised specials.......
Well the newest competitor, in Jabunyaville, has been forced to
acknowledge the above in the 'fine print' of its mailer......
Fact: Speed is based on the connection between your computer
and their 'servers' covering your location....Fact: Upload and
download speeds can be 'messed' up by a lot of things----wires,
your own computer, internet traffic and the operating condition
of the 'server' you want to reach......Fact: Speed in not
guaranteed..........
I guess like everything else in the world today, computer speed
problems are 'someone else's' fault........One fact is now known,
it is not the fault of the IP.......After all he DOES have the Mbps.....
And you can pay for 'your' inablity not to use them....Pumps
