Guantanamo
My olde American history book told me that there were three
branches of government - Executive, Congressional and
Judicial.....Since the establishment of Guantanamo and it's
housing of 'suspected' terrorists there have been certain
members of the Congressional branch which did not like the
actions of the Executive......
This Congressional group claimed that they did not
have a 'say' in 'the matter' and were left out of the 'loop'.....
So Guantanamo and its 'problems' wound up at the doorstep
of the third branch of government - the Judicial......
The Judicial said that, #1 the Congressional is correct in their
being left out of the 'loop'.....Then, #2 the Congressional should
now 'fix' the situation......In one decision the Judicial has taken
the problem away from the Executive.....And something tells
me that the Congressional, did not and, does not want this
problem.....Especially in this election year of 2006......
Guantanamo like immigration has become another political
'football'....Which results in no winners just losers......I wonder
what issues will the candidates talk about this fall - the
proposed rise in first class postal rates perhaps.....Pumps
