Legion of Decency

Between 1934 and 1970 the Catholic Church had their own
movie ratings.....These rating were posted in the vestibule,
of the Church, on a bulletin board......Movies were rated
A-B-C-D based on their Christian moral content.....

Needless to say the 'Bells of St. Mary's' and 'The Robe'
were rated A. Your normal 'clean' movies B and C and
all the movies with the 'good stuff' were D.....One of the
most famous D movies was Brigitte Bardot in 'And God
Created Woman'.....

If you were a teen, like I, you checked to see what D movies
were listed and those were the ones that were a 'must see'......

Well, the Legion of Decency is now defunct......But if it were
to exist today I suspect that the 'DaVinci Code' would be on
the list as a D.......Which means it is a must see movie....Pumps
