Pumps' Perplexities

Years ago a family of four, and one pet, bought a 950 sq. ft.
house > now they live in a 2500 sq. ft., or larger, one...Years ago
the household owned one car > now they have two, or three,
if there is a teenager...

There use to be one telephone either in the living room or
kitchen > now there is one almost in every room and let
us not forget the cell phones....There was one brand of
sneaker "Keds" > now there are sneaker emporiums...

And finally, years ago mama or papa managed to save
a little money, be it in a bank or mattress > today it
is all spent on supersizing everything we buy, use and
even eat...Frugality is extinct....Pumps
